FUJIFLIM was Founded in 1934, It has developed into one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of comprehensive imaging, information and document processing products and services.
FujiFilm has a history of more than 80 years. It is famous for its film in the world and is also a veteran camera manufacturer. In 2012, it developed the flagship mirrorless camera X-Pro1, announcing its entry into the mirrorless camp. Now Fujifilm has developed a huge camera sequence and a number of high-quality lens groups, which is a very mature camera system.
FujiFilm is a camera brand full of humanistic feelings. Cameras often adopt retro design. The body is mainly composed of straight and tough lines. The top of the body is often equipped with mechanical shutter, ISO and exposure compensation dial. Some cameras also have paraxial optical viewfinder. Matte metal material and skin wrapping create a high-value body. Fujifilm is the only remaining film manufacturer, and Fujifilm cameras are equipped with many film simulation filters, which can directly take pictures with film grain texture. Fuji's photos are popular with users because of their straight colors, which can please most people's eyes without post-retouching. From inside to outside, Fuji cameras are full of literary style.
The sensor of Fuji camera is also different. The X-Trans sensor used in Fuji camera can eliminate moire without low-pass filter by disrupting the arrangement of sub-pixels, avoiding the influence of low-pass filter on the sharpness of the picture, and the image clarity is close to the level of full-frame sensor. This is the capital that Fuji APS-C flagship products dare to compete with Sony's full-frame A7 series. However, this sensor also has shortcomings, its minimum ISO can only go down to 200, while the minimum ISO of conventional sensors can reach 64, which is three times the difference. In terms of high-sensitivity performance and tolerance, it is not realistic for APS-C sensors to challenge full-frame across levels.
The picture quality of full-frame is undoubtedly better, but "full" does not represent perfection. "Full-frame" is only an artificially defined size. The medium frame is larger than the full-frame, and the APS-C frame is smaller than the full-frame. There are also more considerations of cost and portability. If you want to choose an APS-C frame model, Fuji is recommended first. Although Sony and Canon have many APS-C frame models, and even some products with excellent performance, they do not belong to the flagship positioning products of their respective brands, which are most obvious in the lens group.
APS-C frame camera: Fuji's APS-C cameras are divided into three flagship series with their own characteristics, X-Pro series, X-T series and X-H series. The same generation of products uses exactly the same image sensor and image processor, which is not superior in picture quality, but in view, control, focus and functionality, these series are completely different. The X-Pro has a paraxial retro design with a distinctive look. X-T series is the main flagship of Fuji, with the strongest performance. Fuji flagship camera is excellent in picture quality, focusing, control and response speed. The latest generation of X-T4 also makes up for the regret of no body anti-shake, and its performance is perfect. The X-H series is Fuji's new flagship launched in 2017, and it is also Fuji's first five-axis anti-shake model with the main video shooting function.
In addition to the three flagship series, Fuji also has many models for the mainstream consumer market. Most of them are reduced versions of the above flagship series. For example, the X-T30 is a reduced version of the X-T3. The appearance is reduced proportionally, but the reduction is only in terms of maneuverability, and the picture quality is not reduced. The X-E series is a reduced version of the X-Pro series. The performance of the body is basically the same, but the photoelectric hybrid viewfinder is cancelled and replaced by a simple electronic viewfinder. The price is doubled. It can be seen that the photoelectric hybrid viewfinder on the X-Pro does have a very high cost and added value.
X-T 100-digit series and X-A series are Fujifilm's entry-level models. The former is equipped with high-resolution EVF, which is rare at this price. The design is also unique in the entry-level field. Fuji's entry-level model uses a flip touch screen similar to Sony's A5000 series, which is easy to use even for small white users. Each brand's entry-level model is similar, but Fuji's unique film simulation function can make it more colorful.
Medium format camera: Although APS-C frame is enough for most people, many professional users have to switch to brands that produce full-frame cameras because of the picture quality. In 2017, Fuji launched the GFX series of medium format mirrorless cameras, which silenced the "full-frame party" who disliked Fuji's small bottom. If you have very serious requirements for picture quality, it is recommended to buy Fuji GFX. The sensor area of Fuji medium frame is 70% larger than that of full frame. In the past, all the advantages of full frame over APS-C frame have become disadvantages in front of medium frame.
GFX is one of the mirrorless systems with the largest frame and the highest pixels. GFX currently has three models: GFX-50S, GFX-50R and GFX-100. The 50 series all use 51.4 million pixel sensors. The body parameters are exactly the same, and only the handling is different. GFX-50S is more professional, with shoulder screen, but also thicker, GFX-50R is thinner, although it is still not affordable for most photography enthusiasts, but compared with hundreds of thousands of yuan of medium format digital back, GFX-50 series has been called the most cost-effective medium format camera.
GFX-100 is the flagship picture quality machine released by Fuji in May 2019, with 102 million pixels, twice as many as the 50 series, 16 bit color depth, 14 dynamic range, and very bright parameters. It adds the 5-axis anti-shake that Fuji has always lacked, and the built-in vertical handle accommodates two batteries, which is not small, but also makes the fuselage thinner. Its focusing performance is not inferior to that of medium format cameras, and its price is less than 12000USD, which is the lowest price of 100 million pixel cameras at present.
Lens group: Fujinon lens plays an important role in professional film and television shooting, and Fuji EBC coating technology is known as one of the "three major coatings in the world". Fuji APS-C camera with X bayonet lens has more than 30 lenses to choose from, including many super-aperture bull heads, which effectively make up for the disadvantages of half-frame camera blurring effect and high sensitivity, and the portability of the lens is better than that of full-frame lens, and the price is relatively cheap. In the long run, choosing a camera brand is choosing a lens group under the brand. Although the cost performance of Fuji camera body seems to be lower than that of Sony, the total cost of the whole system is still lower than that of Sony full-frame system. Fuji medium format camera uses G bayonet, which can not be used with X bayonet lens. At present, there are less than 10 lenses, and there are fewer choices. There is still a big gap with the mature Hasselblad medium format system.
What are the characteristics of Fuji's three flagship X-T, X-Pro and X-H series? The X-Pro is Fujifilm's earliest and most distinctive collection, with a paraxial retro design and a photoelectric hybrid viewfinder. The paraxial optical viewfinder is very suitable for humanistic street view shooting. Because the observation range of paraxial viewfinder is larger than the actual shooting range, the photographer can see the process of people entering the picture from the outside through the viewfinder, which is suitable for snapshot. Apart from Leica, only Fujifilm still insists on developing paraxial cameras, but Fujifilm's paraxial design does not support macular focusing like Leica, but innovatively uses an electronic screen in the lower right corner of the optical viewfinder, which can enlarge the display of the focusing picture to confirm whether it is in focus or not. Of course, the structure of photoelectric hybrid viewfinder is complex, and the cost of emotional landing is high.
X-T series is the main flagship of Fuji, with the fastest update speed, and now it has come to the fourth generation. X-T series pays more attention to practicality, focusing, continuous shooting, video performance are better than the same generation of X-Pro, the price is much lower, the appearance design is similar to Sony A7, but more tonality. The previous generation X-T3 is a very competitive model in the market, with a price of about 1500USD . It uses the fourth generation X-Trans sensor produced by Sony. The picture quality level is the highest among Fuji APS-C models. The focusing level has been greatly improved compared with Fuji models in the past. The most powerful function is to support 4K-10bit-420-60 frame video recording, representing the top video recording capability in 2018. In addition to no anti-shake, the comprehensive performance and product style are better than Sony APS-C flagship A6500. Dpreview rated X-T3 as the best consumer video camera in 2018. The latest generation of X-T4 has added anti-shake function, and its performance has become perfect.
Compared with other mirrorless brands, an obvious defect of Fuji is that the main mass-produced models lack body anti-shake. They only rely on lens optical anti-shake. Compared with Sony, Panasonic and Olympus, which use both optical and body anti-shake, the anti-shake effect is deficient. X-H1 is the new flagship launched by Fujifilm in 2017. It is also Fujifilm's first model with five-axis anti-shake, featuring video shooting function. The price is the highest among the three series. However, due to the use of a new generation of sensors in the updated X-T3 in 2018, the video function of X-H1 is not as good as that of X-T3, which makes the positioning of X-H very awkward.
